Problems with your conservatory door?
At Parkgate Locksmiths, we only repair conservatory doors and will not try to sell you a new door or even a new conservatory!
When the locks fail on an uPVC conservatory door, it can often be still in a closed position. This is where the skill and experience of a professional locksmith come into their own. We can quickly open the door and replace the faulty locking mechanism.
Why has my conservatory door failed?
There is always a reason why a conservatory door fails; we will investigate and find out why the lock failed and ensure that it will not happen again soon. Typically, the failure of the locking mechanism on a conservatory door is caused by alignment problems, making it difficult to lock the door and eventually causing a breakage within the lock itself. Heat can be an issue, with conservatories being too hot or cold, which can cause expansion and contraction of the doors.
Parkgate Locksmiths will realign the door, fit a new mechanism if required and check that the locking process is smooth and correct.
Replacement conservatory door parts
We can replace the parts regardless of how old the door lock is. We recently replaced locks fitted for Everest, Coldseal, Anglian, Safestyle, Sheffield Windows, and Yorkshire Windows. All these doors were out of warranty and over ten years old. Some of the door locks were replaced with the same one installed initially; the others had upgraded locks fitted.
If the handles look worn, they can be replaced, giving the door a “like new” appearance. The old barrels can be upgraded to high-security anti-snap versions.
Is this expensive?
When writing this, the approximate cost of replacing the locking mechanism on a conservatory door is £160-210. Considerably, cheaper than a new door.
All parts fitted are guaranteed for two years, and we would expect at least ten years of future use.
